    Post-Hyaluronidase Treatment: Dos and Don’ts

Hyaluronidase is an enzyme used to dissolve hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. After undergoing this procedure, it’s important to follow proper aftercare to optimise healing and minimise potential complications. Here are some key dos and don’ts to keep in mind:

    Dos

Rest and Avoid Strenuous Activity: Allow your body time to recover by avoiding strenuous activities for a few days after the procedure. Gentle activities, such as walking or light yoga, are generally acceptable.

Apply Cold Compresses: Using cold compresses can help to reduce swelling and discomfort. Apply them to the treated area for short intervals throughout the day.

Use Gentle Skincare Products: Avoid harsh or irritating skincare products on the treated area. Opt for gentle, soothing products that won’t further irritate the skin until healed.

Protect from Sun Exposure: Shield your skin from the sun using a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a high SPF. Excessive sun exposure can delay healing and cause a risk of pigmentation changes.

Stay Hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help to promote healing and prevent dehydration.

Follow Up with Your Provider: Attend follow-up appointments if recommended by your medical professional. This will allow them to monitor your progress and address any concerns.

    Don’ts

Touch or Massage the Treated Area: Avoid touching or massaging the treated area for a few days to prevent irritation and reduce the risk of infection. Touching the area can also spread the dissolver to unintended areas.

Apply Makeup: Refrain from applying makeup to the treated area for at least 24 hours to allow the skin to heal properly.

Engage in Strenuous Exercise: Intense physical activity can increase blood flow to the area and may lead to increased swelling or bruising.

Expose to Extreme Temperatures: Avoid extreme temperatures, such as saunas, hot tubs, or very hot showers, for a few days after the procedure.

Consume Alcohol: Alcohol consumption can increase bruising or swelling.

    Additional Tips

Be Patient: The healing process may take a few days or weeks. Avoid becoming discouraged if you see some swelling or bruising.

Communicate with Your Provider: If you experience any unusual symptoms or concerns, don’t hesitate to contact your medical provider.

Follow Your Provider’s Instructions: Adhere to any specific aftercare instructions provided by your provider.

By following these guidelines, you can help to optimise your recovery and minimize potential complications after hyaluronidase treatment. If you have any questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to reach out to your medical provider for guidance.
