    Preparation

For the best treatment experience and to help minimise side effects, please follow these general preparation guidelines:

    • Ensure your skin is free of all makeup immediately before your appointment.
    • Any facial hair should be shaved or closely trimmed to allow for accurate treatment planning.
    • Avoid consuming alcohol for at least 24 hours prior to your appointment to reduce the risk of bruising.
    • To avoid feeling lightheaded, we recommend drinking plenty of water and having a light meal before your appointment.

    Aftercare

After treatment, follow these general steps to support healing:

    • Avoid alcohol, smoking and intense exercise for 48 hours.
    • Gently apply a wrapped cold pack to the treated areas to minimise swelling and bruising for 20 minutes every hour.
    • Avoid excessive facial movements and strong expressions for 7 days
    • Refrain from applying pressure to the treated areas until healed.

Your clinician may recommend additional aftercare measures, which will be explained to you during your consultation.

    Results

Results from non-surgical thread lifting treatment are usually visible shortly after the procedure. The changes you notice will depend on your personalised plan, but we always aim to align outcomes with your preferences, expectations, and goals.

The longevity of your results depends on the treatment approach, and factors such as skin type, lifestyle, and metabolism.

Over time, changes gradually fade as the treatment is absorbed by the body. To maintain your results, repeat treatments may be required, and can be discussed as an option during your consultation.

Thread lifting is a non-surgical procedure that uses absorbable threads to lift and reposition sagging skin. The threads are either barbed, cogged, or have cones, and are inserted below the skin using a small cannula. After insertion, the threads grab the undersurface of the skin, and are tightened allowing the skin to be lifted.

Suitable candidates for thread lifting are over the age of 18, in good health, and with mild sagging skin on their cheeks, jawline or neck.

They typically have good skin quality, realistic expectations, and are committed to carefully following all preparation and aftercare instructions.

Proper suitability can only be determined through an in-person consultation.

Silhouette Soft threads are made of poly-lacctic-acid, and feature sliding, bi-direction cones. These cones have the open ends facing inwards.

When inserted, the cones engage the soft tissue, and allow the skin to be repositioned. The bidirectional nature means the sagging skin can be brought towards the firmer skin in higher areas.

The sliding feature allows the threads to move with facial expressions, reducing the risk of bunching, puckering, and thread breakage.

MINT threads are made of polydioxanone (PDO) and feature fine barbs along the length of the threads.

After insertion, these barbs catch the soft tissue. They are then pulled tight and fixed to one another, repositioning and lifting the skin.

APTOS threads are made of polycaprolactone (PCL) and polydioxanone (PDO). They feature small barbs along their length, which engage the undersurface of the skin.

After insertion, they are pulled tight and fixed, which repositions and lifts sagging skin.

While threads can be placed anywhere on the face and neck, they are mostly used to treat concerns about sagging in the following areas:

      • Cheek sagging
      • Nasolabial folds
      • Marionette folds
      • Jowls and jawline
      • Neck

Thread lifting may also reshape areas like the nose, brows, cheekbones, chin and jawline.

Thread lifting is a minimally-invasive procedure done under local anaesthetic.

After your consultation, your skin will be thoroughly cleaned. Numbing is used to reduce discomfort.

Once numb, tiny pilot holes are made in your skin in strategic locations. Fine threads are then inserted through these pilot holes, and advanced in the fatty tissue beneath the skin.

After insertion the threads are tightened and secured.

We then apply an anti-bacterial ointment to the pilot holes.

Experienced of pain vary from person to person, however most people find thread lifting to have slight discomfort.

Numbing is usually utilised for comfort, and as this wears off, some aching and general tenderness is to be expected for a few days.

The time to full result from thread lifting can vary, but typically emerges days to weeks after the procedure.

Proper preparation for thread lifting is vital in ensuring your treatment goes smoothly and the lowest risk of side effects.

      One week before your procedure:

      • Avoid alcohol and smoking
      • Consider stopping supplements that may increase bleeding, in conjunction with your GP, especially when taking them for medical purposes.

One day before your thread lift:

      • Shower twice, paying particular attention to washing your face and neck
      • Remove all makeup and do not reapply it
      • Refrain from intense exercise and physical activity

Thread lift aftercare is vital to reduce risks and speed up healing.

For the first 72 hours after thread lifting:

      • Use a cold compress to reduce swelling and bruising
      • Avoid alcohol and smoking
      • Do not apply makeup

For the first 2 weeks after thread lifting:

      • Apply anti-bacterial ointment to the injection sites morning and night until healed
      • Avoid chewing gum and drinking through a straw
      • Avoid excessive facial movements, and facial massage (including gua sha)
      • Avoid hot environments, including saunas, spas and steam rooms
      • Sleep on your back

Thread lifting is a low-risk procedure, but has a number of potential side effects. These include:

      • Redness, bruising and swelling
      • Haematoma (large bruises and collections of blood)
      • Lumps, nodules, and thread visibility
      • Pain, numbness and facial weakness
      • Transient skin dimpling
      • Infections
      • Thread breakage and extrusion
      • Treatment failure
