Did you know that anti-wrinkle injections can be placed in the lower face? Anti-wrinkle injections work by relaxing muscles, and accordingly, they can be used to lift and slim facial features, and smooth the skin in certain areas.

    Tooth grinding/bruxism treatment

Generally, 20-30 units of product are placed to each masseter muscle and occasionally the temporalis muscle to reduce tooth grinding. The result is seen in 2 weeks and can last from 3-6 months.

    Jawline slimming injections

This treatment again involves injections to the masseter muscle. Typically, 20-40 units of product will be placed into each masseter which causes a reduction in strength and then size, creating a slimming effect. This treatment is great for those with a wide or square-shaped face, and is popular because it is simple, quick, almost painless and gives a lovely V-shaped taper to the lower face. Turning out the top lip

Known as a lip flip, this treatment relaxes the orbicularis oris muscle giving the upper lip more vertical height with results lasting out to 8 weeks. Learn more on our lip flip treatment page.

    Chin dimpling / chin crease

The mentalis muscle of the chin can be treated to reduce chin dimples, lower the chin position and reduce the appearance of a horizontal crease often seen running below the bottom lip. Discover more about these treatments on our chin dimpling injections and chin crease anti-wrinkle injections pages.

    Downturning mouth corners

Treating the DAO muscle with anti-wrinkle injections lifts the mouth corners. As the DAO muscle is responsible for drawing down the mouth corners, by weakening it with anti-wrinkle injections, we get the opposite effect (a nice lift). Read more on our downturned mouth injections page.

    Nefertiti lift and platysmal bands

This treatment involves placing anti-wrinkle product along the jawline and neck to relax vertical platysma bands, giving the lower face a lift and enhancing jawline definition. Learn more on our neck platysma band treatment page.

While none of these treatments involve improving wrinkles, you may notice that we refer to ‘anti-wrinkle injections’ when discussing them. This is because ‘anti-wrinkle’ product works by relaxing muscles, and so can be used for other purposes when treating the lower face. Anti-wrinkle injections are also known as wrinkle-relaxers and muscle-slimming injections and may have other names depending on how it is being used.
