Finally, your big day is just around the corner. You’ve spent months, or maybe years, ensuring that every detail is perfect.

The last thing you want is to neglect yourself. You know that there will be photos from every angle, and that there’ll be pictures you’ll cherish for the rest of your life.

You want to look and feel your best; to be the best version of you.

When it comes to having dermal fillers and other cosmetic treatments before your wedding, timing is everything. Too soon, and the results may not be at their best. Too late, and the swelling and potential bruising may not have settled.

So, when should you get cosmetic injectables before your wedding?

    Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Anti-wrinkle injections cannot be reversed, therefore a conservative approach is always preferable to minimise the risk of appearing frozen and having a droopy eyebrow or eyelid.

Anti wrinkle injections take about 2 weeks to fully kick in, with the effect gradually wearing off over 2-5 months. You should avoid having anti wrinkle treatment for the first time before your wedding. A trial run 6-12 months before your wedding will allow your injector to find your ideal strength.

Have anti-wrinkle treatment 3-4 weeks before your wedding to allow the result to kick in, and the effect to soften slightly so that you have some movement and expression.

    Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers should be done no later than 4-6 weeks before your wedding.

What if you bruise? Or have a lump? Or need slightly more, or the filler dissolved When it is such an important day, you should allow for unforeseen circumstances, and prepare for the worst case scenario. The vast majority of the time, your results will look great after two weeks. But it is always better to play it safe.

If you’re getting a non-surgical rhinoplasty with filler, have your first treatment at least 3 months before your wedding. This allows plenty of time in case you need additional treatment.

Timing is critical when it comes to the nose. Get it wrong, and the results won’t be at their best.

    Fat Dissolving Injections

Fat dissolving injections should be done as long as possible before your wedding. Most people need at least 2 sessions, and it takes up to 8 weeks to fully heal from each treatment.

To put it simply, the earlier the better. And never within 2 months of your wedding.

    Skin Treatments

Start as early as possible with skin treatments, as it takes time to see results.

Trying to optimise your skin a few weeks before just isn’t going to work. Get started on high quality skin care and skin tightening treatments at least a year before your big day. Oh, and avoid anything in the few weeks prior, just in case your skin decides to purge.

Other things to consider about having pre-wedding cosmetic treatments

Many people often wonder when to get cosmetic injectables before their wedding. Having a good relationship with your cosmetic doctor will ensure that you can work together to time your treatments, and pivot as needed. You should catch up with them as soon as possible to map out a treatment plan.

Finally, just remember that it isn’t all about how you look. No-one is perfect, so trust in the process, and focus on enjoying one of the best days of your life, and creating memories that will last a life time.
